Detroit Lions invite Clay Dawson to rookie mini-camp

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

After spending a couple of years at a JUCO college in Arizona, Clay Dawson transferred to Eastern Michigan. After having 49 tackles with the Eagles in his senior season, he's been invited to attend the Detroit Lions rookie mini-camp.

At 6-foot-4, nearing 230 pounds, Dawson had 8.5 tackles for loss in 2015 for 40 yards lost. Five of those were sacks. He also pressured quarterbacks into six hurries and even forced a couple of fumbles.

Dawson is the first Eagle to be invited to camps, aside from running back Darius Jackson, who wasdraftedby the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Teammate and captain Great Ibe is coming off of his second straight 130+ tackle season and is still waiting to have his shot at the NFL.
