2016 NFL Draft: Darius Jackson drafted by Dallas Cowboys

When the season ended, you weren't talking about him as a real NFL prospect, all of that talk didn't come until his agent gave him the hookup of being able to turn heads at Michigan's Pro Day. His resume wasn't the most to brag about coming out of college, but in the draft, it's not always about "what have you done?", but it's more of "what can you provide?"

With the 216th overall pick, the Dallas Cowboys picks Darius Jackson in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Jackson is the first EMU player to be taken in the draft since T.J. Lang in 2009 (Green Bay), and first EMU running back since Gary Patton was a 7th round pick (172 overall) by the New York Jets in 1988.

Overally, Jackson gives Dallas plenty quality traits at the running back position. At his Pro Day, he had a 133-inch broad jump, a 4.27 second 20-yard shuttle, a 40 time of 4.35, and had a 41-inch vertical as well. Though he never had the recognition of beingthestarter until his senior season, he was recognized as the back to have a healthy balance of speed and strength. He doesn't do too much by trying to juke a defender out of a tackle, instead he'll instinctively go straight to the end zone as evidenced by breaking the single-season school rushing touchdown record with 16 in 2015.

Dallas just drafted another player out of the MAC, Kavon Frazier, with the 212nd pick too. The Cowboys picked Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliot with the fourth overall pick in the draft.
