2016 NFL Draft: Kavon Frazier taken in the sixth round by Dallas Cowboys

With the 212nd overall pick in the sixth round, the Dallas Cowboys have drafted Central Michigan safety Kavon Frazier. The Cowboys are now up to five defensive players this draft: Jaylon Smith (LB- Notre Dame) with their 34th pick, defensive tackle Maliek Collins from Nebraska in the third round, Oklahoma's Charles Tapper in the fourth and cornerback Anthony Brown from Purdue, earlier in the sixth.

The consensus among analysts is that Frazier could provide instant help as a special teams contributor and play a backup role as a safety with starter potential. As a senior at Central Michigan, Frazier earned Second Team All-MAC honors with 103 tackles (69 unassisted) and five interceptions over his career.

Frazier is the first CMU defensive back taken in the draft since Jim Bowman was a second round pick by the New England Patriots in 1985, and first Chippewa drafted by Dallas since quarterback Gary Hogeboom in 1980.
