2014 Miami Basketball Recruiting: RedHawks Add Two Forwards

It looks likeour previous poston the Miami RedHawks' 2014 basketball recruiting class was incomplete. In the weeks after National Signing Day, John Cooper and his staff have added two more players, both tall JUCOs who show considerable promise:Leonard Livingston,who signed on April 25, and Chris Bryant,who signed on May 6.

Chris Bryant, F

The consensus three-star player, a Tallahassee native, left FAU after one year to play for the College of Central Florida. He helped lead CCF to a 23-9 record last season, starting in 30 of 32 games while averaging 11.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

In high school, Bryant played for Rickards High in Tallahassee, leading the team to two consecutive Class 3A state titles and earning a spot as one of the top 100 high school junior prospects in the nation. He then spent a year prepping at Fishburne Military School before joining the Owls. At 6'8" and 220 pounds, Bryant has the size to bang around in the interior immediately. He will immediately add experience and versatility down low to a team that sorely needs it.

Leonard Livingston, C/F

Livingston, originally a member of Florida Gulf Coast's "Lob City" Sweet 16 team, transferred to Pensacola State College after his freshman year. The sophomore from Upper Marlboro, Maryland didn't put up gaudy numbers at PSC, averaging 5.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks, but his play was good enough to win him a place on the All-Panhandle Conference First Team.

His senior year of high school, he led Patterson High to a Maryland Class 3A state title while amassing 92 blocks on the season. A composite two-star playeraccording to Verbal Commits, he first chose FGCU over offers from BYU, Delaware State, and Seton Hall.

At 6'10" and 190 pounds, Livingston has the length to play the 5, but will probably need to bulk up if he wants to see significant time in the paint in a rough-and-tumble league like the MAC. But what he lacks in weight and muscle, he makes up for in spades with an intangible no one else on Miami's roster has: Sweet 16 experience. John Cooper expects him to contribute on defense and in the locker room right away.
