2015 Toledo Rockets Recruiting: Chandler White Talks Commitment To Rockets

Somehow Toledo will have to replace Juice Brown; is Chandler White the answer?

The Toledo Rockets men's basketball team is looking to carry on the momentum from their record-breaking season last year. The Rockets, if you don't remember, went 27-5 before losing to Western Michigan in the MAC tournament final.

But while the Rockets once again seem poised for a big season (the media have selected them to win the conference title) head coach Tod Kowalczyk is doing what it takes to make sure that momentum lasts long term by going after impact recruits such as 2015 guard Chandler White.

This past Tuesday White officially became a Rocket when he signed his National Letter of Intent.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound combo guard averaged 15 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during his junior year. White has scored over 1,000 career points during his three year high school career.

"The overall process was great, I got to see what was out there for me," White said of his recruitment. "I picked UT because I felt like it was good fit for me, and my family liked it. The coaches and players were all great when I went on visits."

White made it clear what type of player Rockets fans should expect from him. "A scorer," he said. "I feel like my strongest attribute is scoring the ball while driving to the rim. I have been working on my outside shooting all summer. I need to work on my speed and quickness though, and some ball handling as well."

White said that he'll be following the Rockets closely this year and is looking forward to watching them compete for a MAC Championship. "I think they will be good this year. A lot of good seniors including (Julius) Brown who I think is the best guard in the MAC. I think he can lead us far, hopefully to March."

White and the Carroll Chargers start their season Nov. 26 against South Bend Adams, keep an eye out for the soon to be Rocket. Can't wait to watch White light up the MAC? Check out his highlight tape below via YouTube:
