The quarterback room just got a bit crowded in Muncie.

Gaith Kiael凯利,一个三星级的四分卫er High School in Florida, announced on Instagram Live he will be committing to the Ball State Cardinals, posting the news to Twitter on Saturday afternoon.

Kelly chose Ball State over several other reported offers from schools including Bethue-Cookman, Syracuse, Kansas, Coastal Carolina, Indiana, Liberty, USF, BGSU and Illinois, per 247Sports.

Kelly is the 25th-ranked dual-threat QB in the country, and the 110th overall prospect in the state of Florida (824th in the country.) Kelly led Tampa Jesuit HS to the Class 5A state semi-finals, going 97-of-148 through the air for 1,425 yards, 18 touchdowns and two interceptionsprior to that game in 2019before transferring to Gaither HS in January 2020.

As it stands, the Cardinals will have five quarterbacks already on their roster heading into 2021. Kelly is the second QB to sign in the 2021 clas, with Brady Hunt, a pro-style QB, also signed. With Kelly’s commitment, the Cardinals will go into 2021 with seven rostered quarterbacks.

From watching the highlights, Kelly will be a nice addition to the Cardinals. Kelly shows solid improvisational skills and his scramblling ability should translate well when MAC defenses are breathing down his neck. The only thing I couldn’t see in those highlights are a lot of deep throws. If he can develop a nice cannon, he could vault himself into consideration as a starting QB.

It may be a bit of a challenge to be the starter, just looking at the numbers, but Kelly has great potential and should be able to at least be in the conversation in the near future.
