It’s Week 5 in the Mid-American Conference and it won’t be long before your favorite Monsters of MACtion are suiting up against each other in some epic midweek tilts. But before we get to that, there’s still some other business to tend to this week. Your MACtion Week 5 Watchability Guide:

Must See Games
Northern Illinois Huskies@San Diego State Aztecs(SAT 10:30PM)
Ball State Cardinals@Western Michigan Broncos(SAT 7:00PM)
Eastern Michigan Eagles@Kentucky Wildcats(SAT 4:00PM)

For NIU, this is the perfect opportunity to announce to the conference that the road to Detroit still goes through Dekalb. It’s also a chance to let folks know that the upset against Nebraska wasn’t a fluke or the result of a Huskers program in shambles.

Western Michigan has gained a ton of MAC street cred despite some notable departures thanks to a near upset of USC. Ball State fans feel like the Cardinals have the talent and skill to at least threaten the MAC West upper echelon teams. Saturday’s outcome will tell much to both about where they are at in the pecking order of the conference.

Eastern Michigan catches a Kentucky team fresh off their 31st straight loss to Florida, in truly devastating fashion. If there was ever a chance for EMU to come into an SEC opponent’s home turf and steal a win, this is it. Kentucky’s defense looked lost and confused on more than one occasion last weekend, and EMU has shown time and time again that doing the little things is what they’re good at.

Worth a watch
Central Michigan Chippewas@Boston College Eagles(SAT 1:00PM)
Miami-Ohio Redhawks@Notre Dame Fighting Irish(SAT 5:00PM)

Two MAC programs on the road, both of which have shown flashes of greatness and moments of mediocrity this season. Though CMU has the more likely chance at an upset for a whole host of reasons, these are games you need to keep an eye on as you’re consuming your Must See Games above.

If there’s nothing else on...
Ohio University Bobcats@Massachusetts Minutemen(SAT 3:30PM)

I mean, it’s football and it’s a former conference match up between our old brothers from up east. Ohio fans should watch this game with significant interest as it should be a solid win for the Bobcats. Worth noting that UMass gave theTennessee Volunteerssome trouble, but who hasn’t done that this season?

Are you sure you want to do that?
Buffalo Bulls@Kent State Golden Flashes(SAT 3:30PM)
Akron Zips@Bowling Green Falcons(SAT 6:00PM)

There’s four other games in the conference that are more worthy of your time and countless others across the national college football landscape. Besides, we watch these sorts of games so you don’t have to! Just keep it tuned to the Belt this weekend and we’ll save you three frustrating hours. You’re welcome, America.
